Managed cloud SIEM
Give every serious alert an explanation.
Vambrace’s SOC analysts use Sumo Logic to connect identity, endpoint, network and application events. We tune detections, investigate activity in context and tell your team what the evidence supports.
Discuss your SIEMWhat explains the privileged sign-in?
A privileged account signs in from an unfamiliar location. The evidence determines whether the activity was expected and what should happen next.
Illustrative SIEM investigation
- Correlate
- Compare identity records, VPN history, endpoint events and recent cloud changes to reconstruct the timeline.
- Assess
- Distinguish a planned administrator change from a possible unauthorised privilege escalation. Record the affected identity and evidence gaps.
- Hand over
- The SOC records the proposed action and escalates to the named owner where approval is required.
What will the investigation cover?
- Sources
- Which systems can show what happened, and who owns the data?
- Investigation
- Which detections need an analyst, and what business context will they need?
- Response
- Who can contain the incident, during which hours and under what authority?
What Vambrace analysts add to Sumo Logic
Our Leeds analysts work directly in Sumo Logic. They check that the right evidence is arriving, tune detections to your environment and investigate the events that warrant action. At onboarding, we agree monitoring hours, reporting, retention and who can approve a response.
Test the source
Check timestamps, source ownership and key fields. Verify a sample event arrives, can be found and creates the expected detection.
Tune the rule
Use identity, asset and business context to distinguish expected activity from suspicious behaviour. Retain a test case and revisit the rule when the environment changes.
Build the investigation
Correlate related signals, check the original events and explain which evidence supports the conclusion. Agree a reporting rhythm and priority coverage gaps.
Hand over the decision
Record what happened, the business impact, recommended next steps and who can authorise them. Confirm closure or record what remains open.

Play film 2:09Observability for security and service health
Sumo Logic is also an observability platform. Where collected and in scope, logs, metrics and traces let security and operations teams examine the same service disruption from different perspectives.
A checkout starts timing out after a release. Application logs can reveal errors; metrics can show when latency changed; traces can identify which dependency slowed down. Where those sources are instrumented, licensed and in scope, the service owner can compare that evidence with identity or network activity.
The resulting timeline helps teams test possible explanations, such as a failed dependency or suspicious access. Agree which operational questions to cover, who reviews them and who owns recovery.
Work with structured and unstructured logs
An identity provider might produce structured fields, a cloud audit service might emit JSON, and an older application might write plain-text lines. Sumo Logic can search supported logs and extract fields from the formats you supply.
For Cloud SIEM detection, selected events must be forwarded, parsed and mapped to its record fields. Test that the account, timestamp, source and action are interpreted correctly. A searchable message alone does not prove a detection rule will recognise it.

About Sumo Logic
The team at Sumo Logic introduces the company behind the cloud SIEM used by the Vambrace SOC.
Play filmCollecting OT and IoT evidence
Operational technology (OT) and Internet of Things (IoT) environments often produce useful security evidence at gateways, firewalls and management services. Our analysts work with your operational owner to use supported sources without disrupting a critical process.
For a connected building, the first useful source may be the firewall or remote-access gateway already logging access to the controls network. With the operational owner, identify supported logs that can be exported through an approved boundary and assess the effect on availability and safety.
Agree the collection route, traffic limits, maintenance window and rollback before connecting a source. Start with existing logs where possible. Any active scanning, agent installation, isolation or change to a controller requires its own assessment and explicit authorisation from the operational owner.
Security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR)
Sumo Logic’s automation and Cloud SOAR capabilities connect investigation and response through playbooks. We agree which integrations and actions your deployment supports and test them with your incident owners.
A tested playbook can enrich an alert, create an incident ticket and notify the designated responder through supported integrations. A higher-impact action, such as disabling an account or isolating an endpoint, requires the right licence, connector, access and agreed response authority.
Define which steps may run automatically, where an analyst must approve a decision, and how the owner verifies the outcome. Configure and test each playbook against the agreed environment before relying on it.
Three indicators that cloud SIEM makes sense for your organisation
Deciding whether to evaluate Sumo Logic
An evaluation can answer a bounded question, such as whether identity and cloud logs show the sequence after a suspicious sign-in. Ongoing managed SIEM adds ownership of agreed log sources, detection tuning and a service review.

Set retention by source. Incident investigation, privacy and assurance teams may need different windows for identity events, network telemetry and application records.
Sumo Logic plans can meter ingestion, search and storage differently. We model expected data volumes with you before agreeing a collection and retention plan.

Complex on prem SIEM requires a lot of skilled resource to manage it effectively.
Finding, recruiting, and retaining these individuals is hard and expensive, particularly for smaller teams.
Sumo Logic takes these headaches away by regularly updating their cloud-native SIEM with the latest features, rules, and intelligence, ensuring your defences stay current without perpetual manual upgrades.

What is a Cloud-Native SIEM?
A Cloud-Native SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) is a security platform built and operated in the cloud. It collects, analyses, and correlates security logs and events from across an IT environment including endpoints, networks, and cloud services to detect and respond to threats. Unlike traditional on-premises SIEM, a cloud-native SIEM is designed to be scalable, flexible, and cost-efficient, making it well-suited for modern, hybrid, and cloud-first businesses.
Who is a Cloud-Native SIEM best suited for?
Cloud SIEM is ideal for:
- Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (SMBs): Looking for enterprise-grade monitoring without high upfront investment or ongoing maintenance costs.
- Any organisation that has embraced a hybrid or multi-cloud environments that needs visibility across on-premises and cloud workloads.
- Highly regulated industries where compliance reporting and data protection are critical.
- Organisations with a remote or distributed workforce
Can a Cloud SIEM help with audit and compliance work?
An investigation record can show which events were available, how they were reviewed and when the team acted. Agree evidence requirements and retention with the control owner. A SIEM report supports an audit; it does not determine whether an organisation meets a standard.
What cost savings can a Cloud SIEM deliver?
Estimate costs from the proposed sources, daily volume, retention and search patterns. Sumo Logic plans have different metering rules. Include collectors, connector maintenance, tuning and analyst cover when comparing cloud SIEM with your current operation.
